Our waitress was delightful and the roast was lovely. The gluten-free choices were disappointing, though: no gluten-free Yorkshire puddings, and only one dessert available. There should be more options like these by now.

The dinner was mega delicious, and breakfast was amazing too 😋 A big thank you to the person who served us on the evening of our first stay, 27th Dec. I didn’t catch his name, but he was working with a fractured foot. Hope you recover quickly 🙏 Highly recommend!

We only ate in the bar, didn’t stay here, but it was the best meal all of us had eaten in ages. The main dishes and dessert were stunning, and the welcome and service were excellent. We’ll definitely come back to eat.

The setting is glorious, right by the harbour and canal, and breakfast was great. We ate in the bar twice; the food was very good, though the mains were more than we could manage, so the second time we went for smaller plates. For my 60th we booked three nights in room 8, listed as a cosy double. It turned out to be a good-sized room, with plenty of space and clothes storage, plus a big bathroom with a shower over the bath. The shower pressure and temperature were spot on. The toiletries, towels and toilet paper were all good quality, the little things matter. One tip: bring drinking water if you can. They say the tap water isn’t drinkable and provide two small bottles a day, which wasn’t enough for us. My wife and I have stayed in dozens of hotels, and this is the first one we’ve both promised to return to. It’s a firm favourite.
