The Bell Hotel

We'd had a good lunch here on our first visit, with polite, timely service, so the Saturday anniversary meal was a real disappointment. Three long tables of six to ten people were shouting and laughing so loudly we struggled to talk to each other or the waitress. Management didn't try to quiet things down, and then most of their dogs started barking at one another. The fried brie starter was mediocre and the Chilean Merlot was very good, but my steak was overcooked. The pub refused to do anything about it. When we said goodbye, the owner snapped, "make sure you pay." Then he embarrassed my wife in front of the pub by bringing her steak out on another plate and demonstrating how easily it could be cut. We won't return or recommend the place. Next time we're eating out and run into rowdy customers, we'll turn around and walk straight out.

We'd passed through Burgh Le Marsh a few times while holidaying in Croft, and decided to stop at the Bell Hotel for a meal. We arrived with three other people just ten minutes before lunch service ended, but all five of us were welcomed and given menus. The fish and chips were beautifully cooked, and the staff were lovely and helpful. They happily found a box in the kitchen when I asked to take the batter home for our dog, since my stomach sadly doesn't like batter ☹️. I was impressed by the food and decor, and would definitely return.

Lovely place with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. It was my first night here, playing darts, and the board in the far corner is so poorly lit that it's hard to see what you're doing. Please add a light ring around it and we'll be in all the time 👍

A pretty poor meal with five friends last night. We waited over an hour after ordering, one starter was missed, and the main courses were mediocre. The hunter's chicken seemed to have been microwaved. My friends ordered rib-eye steaks but got sirloin. When they asked about it, the chef argued that after 20 years he knew what a rib eye looked like. One steak was so greasy it was obviously deep-fried. At the end, the waitress gave the steak fat to the pub dog, which had been lurking at the end of our table. Wouldn't recommend it at all.
