Dunstan House

I liked that dogs are welcome, and the food we ordered tasted good. The burgers, though, came with only chips: no lettuce, tomato or sauce in the burger, and no side salad, coleslaw or onion rings. A couple of our plates were also taken away while the rest of us were still eating, which felt rude.

I loved having an intimate stay in a small place with just a few rooms instead of a huge hotel. The staff were friendly and really accommodating, and it was super close to everywhere I needed to be. This cute place was absolutely lovely. I forgot to take pictures, but it was the best stay I’ve had in quite some time.

The main thing I’d change is the food choice. The menu needs more salads, vegetables, seafood and lighter dishes. Breakfast could use more options too, including fresh juices, different kinds of milk, fruit, yogurt and pastries. I understand that head office, Young’s, may tie your hands, but every property needs a menu suited to its area and customer feedback. I think managers should have more say over food and drink. This was my second stay at Dunstan House, and I loved it. Russell and Kelly were extremely accommodating, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Leanne looked after my needs and serviced my room every day, leaving it looking lovely. Thanks for a great stay. I’ll see you again next time I visit my family. Warm regards, Julie Perry

A lovely spot to stop for Sunday lunch. My wife had beef and I had pork, both really tasty and hot, with plenty of gravy. The bread and butter pudding was just as delicious, though the portion was too big for me. There’s a nice, big beer garden too.
