For a quieter Sunday meal, we usually come later, around 6pm. It’s handy that the Sunday and other menus can be checked online beforehand. Jack and his team give very good service. The roast beef is divine, with a crisp outside from the grizzly and a lovely pink middle. There are plenty of potatoes and vegetables, plus huge Yorkshire puddings. One of us started with the ham hock and nduja bon bons, which were lovely. This is one of our two regular Sunday roast places.

We live close by and have eaten here quite a few times, for lunch and dinner. We keep coming back because every meal has been tasty and well cooked, beautifully presented, and actually hot when it’s meant to be. Starters, mains and desserts have all been really good, and we’ve never left wanting more. There’s a very palatable choice of wine and other drinks, and the friendly staff are happy to help. The menus have been good each time too. It feels like a trusted friend, somewhere we’ll routinely return to.

The main downside is the very busy road outside, with lorries constantly going past. Still, it’s a good stop when travelling from Bury St Edmunds to Thetford, or heading up to the coast, and it’s also a hotel. We had lunch during the week with a relative. The food was piping hot and nicely presented, and the bar was spotless. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. There’s a large car park with two disabled bays, a large disabled toilet, and separate ladies’ and gents’ toilets. I’d definitely recommend it.

Really busy on Sunday lunchtime, which was good to see, and we still got personal service. The food was excellent, and there were plenty of extra veggies for an already full plate. Great service too. Thanks, and I hope to see you again soon.
