The Golden Boar

A lovely village pub, with friendly staff and a good food menu. We’d highly recommend it for a couples night out. We noticed there’s a function room too, and the atmosphere makes us think it could work well for a party gathering.

There were quite a few of us, and we ordered six chicken roasts. Every single one came out pink and raw, including to the touch. The kitchen staff said they’d probed the chicken and it was at temperature, but you could see how raw it was. They made fresh chicken dinners, but by the time those came out most of us had finished eating. Nobody checked how the meal was, and there were no complimentary drinks or dessert as a goodwill gesture. We were still charged full price. We won’t be back in a hurry.

We’d just been for a walk and had a delicious Sunday lunch. Even our four-legged friend got her own roast. The atmosphere was great, and the staff even better, especially Marie. We left feeling thoroughly spoiled, with very happy tummies.

We were looking forward to a family meal after hearing good things, but were served six roast dinners with raw, pink chicken. Our children and grandchildren, aged 1 to 8, had started eating theirs before we realised, which was horrifying. Basic food safety should be taken seriously. They replaced the chicken after we complained, but it looked as if it had simply been put back in the oven without care. The service was appalling: no apology, no complimentary drinks, and the manager didn’t come out to speak with us. The staff were rude and unprofessional, and we felt let down and disrespected. Paying £279 for this was outrageous. If you want to avoid a similar experience, steer clear of The Golden Boar Freckenham. The lack of care for customers was staggering. Do not go here.
