We spent Friday to Monday at Hargate Hall for our February 2026 wedding, and everyone in the family had their own lovely, spacious, clean apartment. Having our guests close by meant the celebration could carry on all weekend. Even our Saturday evening guests could have a bed, including shared bunk beds. The venue won us over as soon as we saw it. Its setting feels like a fairy tale, and having the choice of the hall indoors or the marquee outside worked for all kinds of wedding ideas. Anthony and Phoebe were brilliant with the planning. They let us visit more than once, answered every question, kept in touch, and even got my husband's favourite beer in for the bar. We can't recommend Hargate Hall or the Knox family enough. They made our special day truly magical and made the place feel even more personal. Thank you so much!

We got married at Hargate Hall less than 90 days after booking, and the team made planning on that timeline feel easy. They answered all our questions and helped with local supplier recommendations, along with ideas from other weddings held there. The homemade bunting was another lovely touch. The venue is close to Buxton, and we loved having the option of a DIY wedding. Its self catering apartments are well equipped, with a marquee as another space to use. After meeting the Knox family and seeing the hall's beauty, it took us just 30 minutes to decide this was the place for us. Thanks for making our special weekend one of the best of our lives.

A great spot for a serious party. We spent the weekend there celebrating some friends' birthdays, and we're all connected to the music industry. The rooms were clean and tidy, most of them very spacious and well equipped. Even with the temperature reaching at least -2 for part of the weekend, it wasn't too cold, despite what some other reviews said. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were lovely.

Having the full venue for the weekend gave us time with our loved ones that we'd never have had if it were only one day. Around 40 guests stayed with us, with more space available in the bedroom mezzanines. We had 130 people at the ceremony, which got a bit tight when rain forced us indoors from our planned outdoor spot. People could also stand in the apartments and on the staircase, though, and we loved using those stairs for our entrance and photos. Keeping the ground floor apartments open, plus the upstairs space, gave everyone room to mingle. The marquee worked really well for dinner, while the hall felt intimate for the ceremony, band and dancing. We stocked the bar ourselves, and I think it cost a fraction of what a hotel or other venues we'd viewed would have charged for a bar. Hargate Hall wasn't a cheap wedding, and we ended up spending about what we expected to at a hotel or barn venue. But we got exactly the wedding we wanted, with three times the value for money, even if a DIY venue means more work. If the limited choices in other venues' flexible packages don't appeal, this is a place to consider for a unique celebration. The apartments were all large, clean, tidy and comfortable, with fully equipped kitchens. We didn't have any problems with them. Anthony, Julie and family were incredibly friendly and helpful. Will was full of useful knowledge in the lead up, and Sarah and Phoebe worked so hard behind the bar. From the moment we saw Hargate Hall, we knew it was our dream venue. We loved its beauty and the freedom to choose our own suppliers, caterers and bar. Thanks to everyone, and we hope to return for a family get together.

We enjoyed the local walks, especially Millers Dale, and the restaurants nearby were excellent, including Merchants Yard Tideswell. Anthony was a perfect host, warmly welcoming us and helping throughout our stay. Our room in Hargate Hall was incredible, with ornate high ceilings, good furnishings and exceptionally comfortable beds. It felt like sharing someone's home in a well-kept country mansion. The quirky electricity meter was great value and suited the building's old-world charm. The current owners have taken real care to preserve the character of the hall and its contents. Superb stay.
