Snow and ice meant we chose to cut our two-night booking short for safety, which was a shame. We had a lovely one-night stay at Parsons House and hope to return later this year. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, with useful advice about local walks and getting home. Coffee and biscuits were always offered when we returned, and even left outside our door in the morning before breakfast. The ground-floor room had beautiful original decoration. Breakfast was delicious, starting with yogurt, honey and granola, followed by a tasty home-cooked bacon and eggs breakfast and homemade marmalade. Highly recommend this B&B.

I really enjoyed staying here. It's a chilled, lovely place with just two rooms, decorated beautifully and full of little touches that make things comfortable and easy. David was a great host and made sure I had what I needed, offering tea whenever I came in. There was even a cup left outside the door in the morning before breakfast. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked just right.

David is lovely, super friendly and helpful, and I love his home. Breakfast was delicious, with compote and a cooked meal. David is close to both pubs, and bookings are essential. The Devonshire served very tasty food, but we had to wait even with a booking. I feel for the pubs, they're short staffed.

Hartington is a well equipped village, with great walks and cycling routes right from the doorstep. David made us feel welcome and was a superb host. There was always tea or coffee available, with warm fires and a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are delightful, and they were tidied perfectly each day. Breakfast was plentiful and made with locally sourced food. David takes pride in his cooking, presents everything beautifully, and regularly checks that it's to your liking. Can't wait to visit again.

Breakfast is the part I keep thinking about: David uses carefully chosen local ingredients and cooks them beautifully. If he ever opened a restaurant, we'd be first through the door. The rooms are decorated with real thought and character, and David's a lovely host, full of useful local tips and somehow always knows when you fancy a brew. We don't often return to places, but Parsons B&B is an exception. You should book it.
