Breakfast was a good choice, nicely presented, and tasted lovely. The place was spotlessly clean, the staff friendly, and the price was very good. Our small attic room had everything we needed, though its decor was a little tired. The main public rooms looked recently renovated, and it seemed the remaining rooms might be done soon. It's very central but sits in a quiet residential area, although the front rooms are close to a busy road. I'd definitely recommend it.

We found it good value, with free parking at the hotel or on the nearby road, a good location, and an excellent breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Robert at the front desk, who was a lovely chap. Sadly, the hotel was having heating and hot water problems when my sister and I visited. They provided an electric heater, but we had to use the electric shower for hot water. Our room was very dated and could use some investment. The bed was comfortable, though a thicker duvet would have helped, and the remote still didn't work after the batteries were changed. We would stay again if we came back to Buxton.

Our room was spacious, clean, and warm, and the renovation work going on at the hotel didn't affect our stay. Some areas do look a little dated, but we were very happy with the service and especially the breakfast. We stopped for one night on a long drive from Scotland to Kent, and felt the room and breakfast were very good value for the price.

It was cheap, and the room was spotlessly clean, with hot and cold water. The heating worked well and could be adjusted, and the staff were brilliant. The decor seemed to be a work in progress, so hopefully things will improve if we visit again. The dog-friendly room was large, but very beige, with 70s patterns and furniture that worked but didn't match. Quite a few things needed repair or replacement, especially the big bay sash window: it was rusted shut, with broken pulleys, mould, and condensation. It was too cold outside for fresh air to be appealing anyway. What may once have been an airing cupboard had been turned into a shower room with a toilet and basin. The shower was only held up by its pipes, so it wobbled and knocked against the tiles, and the rest came away from the wall with the slightest touch. There were no towel hooks, though we got plenty of towels when we asked for a floor mat. The double bed was comfortable, but the bedding only just lay edge to edge before we got in.

The location worked really well, with Pavilion gardens across the street and the town centre only a ten-minute walk away. The hotel was warm enough even in cold weather, which we appreciated. Our room was a bit dated, but fine overall. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was freshly made, quick to arrive, and delicious. I definitely recommend staying here.
