Only 20 minutes from where I live, and such a dream location. Service was really excellent, and the menu is uncomplicated: what you order will be perfect. The wine selection was a bit limited, though. Don’t leave without trying the Baileys cheesecake 😍. The coffee is divine too.

We had a brilliant stay in Room 2, which my partner Garry booked for my birthday. The table had a birthday card on it, and the Booth was set up perfectly for us. Everyone was attentive and friendly, from the front of house to the behind-the-scenes staff. The food was amazing, and the place was clean. We’d definitely come back and recommend the dine and stay package. Thank you!

I went to the restaurant for the first time yesterday and will definitely be back. The portions were huge, and the food was delicious. I started with the Loaded Tenders, had the Ribeye with awesome chips, cooked perfectly, then finished with sorbet. Everything came out quickly, and the staff were great.

We’d parked up and enjoyed a nice walk before popping in for lunch and beers. It’s dog friendly, with a great menu and a solid choice of booze. The boss had steak and I had a pie, one of the best I’ve ever had: great crust and a filling cooked excellently. My friends enjoyed it too. Top stuff.

The drive from London after watching Gary Eats’ YouTube review built up the anticipation. The Ryles Arms really does feel in the middle of nowhere, and parking was easy. There are two entrances: the front feels like a traditional gastro pub, while the rear has a more modern, hotel-style reception. Inside is bright, colourful and open, though it felt a little cramped once our larger group was seated. I liked the menu’s cheeky descriptions. We ordered the pepper bagger, a kids’ burger meal and the famous mixed grill, asking for all the steaks medium rare. The kids’ burger was dry and our little one couldn’t finish it. The stuffed part of the pepper bagger was good, but beyond that the steak was closer to rare than medium rare. It turned chewy and tiring to eat. The mixed grill was very hit and miss: the steak was excellent and the lamb lovely, though I’d have liked the lamb a touch pinker. The gammon was undercooked for me, and the black pudding and sausages were dry, like the kids’ burger. The grilled tomato was cold, as if it might have been cooked ahead and added to the plate during service rather than grilled fresh. There were highlights, but the inconsistency leaves me unsure about returning, especially after such a long drive.
