The staff are what made this Mother’s Day weekend stay feel so special. Everyone was friendly and professional, and the reception team on duty sorted our questions and requests with real care. We came back to Wales after ten years, so that welcome meant a lot. We tried both a standard family room and a superior room. They were both spacious, clean, and had comfortable beds. The pool was a big hit with all of us, and the tea and coffee in the room was handy. Breakfast was tasty, the catering staff kept things running smoothly, and dinner in the restaurant was excellent too. We’d seen comments that the interiors feel a bit dated. Given the building goes back to the 18th century, the traditional style makes sense. We had a fantastic stay and plan to return in summer.

Travelling as a family with bags made this stay a real ordeal. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so check-in was very late. Once we finally got in, the room was boiling, and there was no way to open the windows. It felt stifling. Getting luggage to the room was another problem. There's no direct lift access, so we had to carry heavy bags up and down several flights of stairs. A huge hassle with a family. Breakfast was good quality, but very expensive. There are plenty of cheaper places to eat nearby. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Save yourself the stress and the heat.

The pool was great, and towels are provided. There are also other items you can buy. The location worked well for us, with Asda just across the road, though it can run short of some things. We ended up relying on Tesco Extra, about a 20-minute drive away. Lots of places to visit are within 30-40 minutes by car. The building is old, which is part of what you're paying for, but footsteps from the room above carried through. Someone below ours probably heard us too. The rooms weren't cleaned as thoroughly as they should have been. Staff were lovely in the restaurant and swimming area, but cleaning and reception were less impressive. I found Irina- reception lady quite cold and unwelcoming. A couple of costs to keep in mind: parking is 10 GBP per day, and although check-in is at 4 pm, checkout is strictly 11 am. Staying later costs 20 GBP for each hour. Even so, all in all it was a good experience.

The people here are genuinely lovely. Jude at reception, John the restaurant manager, and Craig the bar manager were all a real credit to the place. That’s why I’ll be back. It’s a great spot for exploring North Wales, and the hotel has what you need: clean and tidy rooms, a great spa, and fantastic food. The hotel admits it’s waiting for a refurbishment, but we still had a really nice stay.

The spa was a lovely surprise, with a pool that has a built-in hot tub, plus a steam room, sauna, and all the changing and shower facilities. The food was another pleasant surprise, everything we tried was delicious. We spent four nights here and found it a handy base for Snowdon, Porthmadog, the Welsh Highlands and the railways. Our room was a little dated, but comfortable and practical. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We'd happily stay again, it's a great all-rounder.
