YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass

We had a really good stay, with great service and an amazing view, and I’d definitely come back. Parking works on a first come, first served basis, but it was convenient for an overnight stop. I could hear footsteps from upstairs in the lower rooms, especially when people were heavy-footed. That was my only real criticism and didn’t spoil the experience. I’d recommend the place.

The location is fantastic for setting off on a Snowdon walk, and the staff are incredible. The big drawback is parking: there’s none on site, and the car park across the road can be full before 8am when the weather’s even halfway decent. In summer, you need to prebook parking at £40 a day.

I was a little nervous since it was my first hostel stay, but I came away pleasantly surprised. The food was lush and affordable, and all the staff were so friendly. The rooms were basic, though clean and comfortable. It’s an ideal place to stay for hiking, and I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The beds were comfortable and the hostel is in a good spot. In the self-catering kitchen there were only four spoons, and just one light worked. Parking was a bit of a pain too, since arriving before 6:30 meant paying 2 x £10.
