We felt lucky to discover Ardkinglas, the sort of special place you almost want to keep to yourself. Our stay in the butler's quarter felt like real country life, and the accommodation was so warm and comfortable. Around us were the loch and sea, bens, remarkable woodland and rivers, along with sunny skies, ghostly fog and a country mansion. The residents were kind too.

I’ve never come across another holiday spot quite like this. The gardens and views are stunning, the staff are lovely, and it’s close to the village pub. There are great walks nearby, and Inveraray is easy to reach for food and supplies.
