We had a really nice dinner by the fire. The staff were lovely, and the cocktails were tasty with a good selection to choose from. I had the duck and orange pâté, then lamb shank with vegetables. Everything came at a comfortable pace, and the prices were reasonable. There’s a spacious car park, and just remember to pay at the bar.

The views were amazing, and the room was comfortable. The host was polite and cheerful too. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve stayed, though I only booked one night. I should mention this was a little over a year ago.

We ate in the hotel bar a few weeks ago with our dog at our feet. The dog got fresh water and a biscuit, and we humans had pizza. It was made fresh by hand, not from frozen catering supplies or Brake Bros. A calm spot for a meal and a beer.

The food was shockingly bad, and the whole meal felt odd. We were staying nearby, looked the pub up on Maps, saw the great reviews, then checked the menu on the website. When we got there, the menu was completely different. The dishes were laughably poor: everything seemed to come from packets, from chicken in BBQ sauce to pasta with supermarket pesto and a baked potato with sour cream dumped on top. I wouldn’t have paid £5 for any of it in a cafe.

The lamb shanks were great, and we got a nice table beside the fire in the bar. We chose that over the restaurant because the restaurant didn’t have a log fire. My girlfriend loved her cocktail, and our server was friendly and polite.
