Amara House

The beds were all very comfortable, and it was surprisingly quiet given how close the place is to a main road. The photos are pretty accurate, but the living space would have been difficult with more than our group of seven: seating for four on the sofa and six around the dining table. One shower is literally in a room the size of a toilet. Air freshener was overwhelming, though we realised the chip shop directly behind the house was probably why. Only the downstairs toilet smelled of chips. There were quite a few maintenance problems: a broken tap and shower head, cracked floor tiles in the upstairs toilet, mouldy sealant, tired grout, a broken light fitting, and windows covered with paint and dirt. Keeping those windows clean could be tricky with a building site only a few metres from the front door. In 15 years of weekends away, we've usually stayed in well maintained, clean places. This was by far the most expensive place we've booked, and we were disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it.

A great stay, just as expected. The hosts were wonderful. Highly recommend.
