The location is great, parking was decent and the staff were pleasant, but the cleanliness let the place down. The bathroom was disgusting, as the photos show. We bought bleach to clean the toilet, and the rest of the bathroom looked just as bad. The shower curtain hangs about a foot too low and is mouldy because it doesn’t dry properly. Managers should be checking this. Come on, Travelodge, it shouldn’t be difficult.

The station is across the road, so getting to London by rail was easy. The staff were very friendly, and the pub next door was nice, with a good meal. I was a bit concerned after reading some reviews, but we had a very pleasant two-night stay. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

My granddaughter had recently had her baby and was still getting used to her new routine, so she accidentally booked the wrong night. When she arrived at 8pm with her six-week-old baby, she was told there was one room available for £137. She couldn’t afford it and had to leave. They wouldn’t let her use what she’d already paid as part payment for the room she needed. What kind of world is this, where a 19-year-old and her baby aren’t shown kindness or compassion? Instead of understanding her mistake, she was treated very badly and left upset in the dark.

Kelly at Travelodge made me feel at home with such thoughtful service. On a rainy day, she lent me her own umbrella so I could get to my interview and wished me good luck. Even after we’d checked out, she helped us store our luggage. Service like this is rare. A huge thanks to Kelly! ❤️

I paid £46 for a bed covered in mould. When I complained and pointed out the filthy rooms, the woman at reception said they don’t clean there. She told me to check out if I didn’t like it, but said there’d be no refund. I only changed rooms because it was after 7pm. You get what you pay for.
