We came back for three nights with the kids, and it was impressive again. The team responded quickly to requests and minor problems by phone or Hilton app chat, and our spacious, comfortable room was quiet. Mark gave us a warm welcome and was professional and accommodating with our arrangements. Breakfast had a fantastic range, and we used the 10% guest discount for dinner this time. It was good value, the rib-eye was cooked perfectly, and the pear tart was a standout. The staff were attentive and courteous. It’s lovely to get a resort-like stay so close to the heart of Cambridge. Thanks to everyone at the hotel. We’re already looking forward to coming back.
Just a five-minute walk to the river and around ten minutes to the town centre, The Fellows House is well located. We loved our two-night stay. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has a relaxed, grown-up feel. Our spacious room had a large shower and a kitchenette, which was a nice touch. The team were some of the best I’ve come across while travelling. Everyone put in real effort to make us comfortable. When the TV in our room had a problem, they replaced it straight away with a brand new one. Luv and Becks took great care of us in the restaurant. We ate very well. Dinner was excellent, with one of the best selections of vegetarian options I’ve seen, and both the food and wine were outstanding. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of choice. The pool isn’t very wide, but we had it to ourselves both mornings during adults-only hours, 6-9am. The pool and spa area were wonderful, the sauna and steam room were clean and well maintained, and the facilities stay open until 10pm. Parking cost £48 for two nights, which felt steep. For the room price, a better rate would be appreciated. Thanks for a great stay. We’ll definitely be back.
We were disappointed by the service. Dinner took a long time, and our waiter seemed more interested in flirting with single female patrons than bringing our drinks. It shouldn’t take half an hour to pull a pint. Most of the staff seemed disinterested during our stay, apart from one gentleman with glasses, who repeatedly had to step in when his colleagues weren’t providing service. The Fellows is otherwise a lovely, well-appointed hotel, with beautiful rooms, nice furnishings and a great lobby. It’s about a 20-25 minute walk toward Cambridge centre and perhaps 10 minutes to the canals.
The front desk staff were lovely, and I liked the little kitchenette in the room. It was the quietest hotel I’ve stayed at when I was in my room. The sauna was great, although the steam room was out of service. There was a leftover towel and mould in the bathroom. The sauna and pool floors need a deep clean, and there were only two desks available at the front desk. Parking charges were atrocious, so please park somewhere else.
We had to leave partway through our stay and change hotels, something my husband and I have never done before. Flies were all over the restaurant and lobby, swarming around our food until we couldn’t finish our meal. The environment felt unhygienic and uncomfortable. The bathrooms were in poor condition, with visible rust and mould throughout, and the general cleanliness seemed neglected. At around £229 per night, that was unacceptable. This stay at The Fellows House Cambridge, Curio Collection by Hilton was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected from anything with the Hilton name. The experience fell far short of the standards usually associated with the brand, and it felt misleading to operate under that name. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
