The Orlando

The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The location was good and the price seemed okay beside nearby hotels, so it's not a terrible option if you're saving money. Still, the website gives the wrong impression: this isn't a hotel but an old house split into keypad-entry units. There's no reception and no one to contact when something goes wrong. The printed room instructions had the wrong Wi-Fi password and said Claire should only be contacted for fires or “lock related emergencies.” Nobody checked in with me. I eventually found a working password buried in an email from booking.com, and I don't know why the printed one was incorrect. There's no luggage stand or dresser, and hardly any counter space. You can't adjust the heating, so you're stuck with the preset temperature, which didn't suit me. You can also hear anyone else in the building. I'd only recommend it if you can get it much cheaper than nearby hotels.

The location is ideal, especially coming by train, since the station is about three minutes away. It's also an easy walk to the city centre or to a quieter street with shops and restaurants. I booked at the last minute, but the owner sent clear key code instructions and getting in was no problem. The room was lovely, clean, and had soap, shampoo, tea, coffee, and water. The bed was comfy too. I'd definitely recommend it.

The host was helpful with my requests, and communicating by email and text worked well. The location is excellent, close to the train station, with good bus connections throughout the day. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores are within walking distance. I had a great stay at The Orlando. The room was comfortable and had regular housekeeping, a TV, mini-fridge, kettle, Nespresso machine, and tea and coffee pods. I'd highly recommend it and would stay again.

For a short overnight stay, it was just what I needed. The room was quite small but cleverly laid out, quiet, and clean. It's a quick walk from the train station, and in the morning I could easily get breakfast and visit the Botanical Garden. Late check-in was simple, and the establishment was very helpful in sorting out a problem with my charge card, which was my mistake.
