Dellwood Hotel

Tracey and her family are genuine and very hospitable. The front lounge is beautifully decorated in this old style villa, which is still a family home as well as a hotel. There's a little bar on site, plenty of parking, and it's only a short walk to the town centre. We had a big room with lots of space, comfy beds, a good WiFi connection and a nice big TV. The tea and coffee tray even had Tunnock's caramel wafers 😁. There was no central heating in our room, but the heater was on and it was nice and toasty. The room could have done with a polish: there were a few cobwebs and what looked like black mould on the windows. Breakfast had a few cereals, orange juice and a full Scottish, which came out hot and good. The tattie scone and black pudding were delicious. Would stay again.

Tracy, Joan and Bruce were a delight, and I'd definitely stay with them again. The hotel feels very much like a family home, and my room was charming. It was an ideal base for my trip, whose main purpose was visiting the distilleries, all within walking distance. Loved my stay here!

I booked for one night, then turned up and was told there was no room because other guests had decided to extend their stay. The job they were doing had run over and they were refusing to leave. I was also told they wouldn't normally take a one-night booking. My issue is that I only heard this after arriving, and I'm sure they could have contacted me earlier. Tracy did find another place for me, but it was much more expensive, so I made the long trip back home. They've offered me a cheap stay another time, but I don't know how I can trust the room will actually be available. Sorry, but no.

We became so close over the years that we kept going back. On our last visit, we renewed our vows, with Tracy, the owner, as my maid of honour and Bruce part of the day too.
