We had the whole house for our family stay, with three parking spaces round the side. There were five double bedrooms, all beautifully decorated, and one downstairs, which is handy for older people or anyone who has trouble with stairs. The beds were very comfortable, and there was plenty of linen and kitchenware for us. We noticed a door to what looked like a third upper floor, but it was locked, so perhaps there’s more accommodation for a bigger group or family. The setting was peaceful and quiet, with ducks on the pond, ponies in the field opposite and lovely dog walking. It felt ideal for a break away from it all, while still being close enough to visit Sandwich, Deal, Ramsgate and other nearby towns and villages. I’ve already recommended it to friends and colleagues at work.

I would have liked to stay, but I called many times over two separate days and never got an answer, even though the stated hours are 8am to 9pm. I tried both the mobile and landline. The owner replied that I’d called outside business hours, but I called at different times between 10am and 4pm, then again at 8:30am today. Someone answered the mobile and hung up. There was no voicemail on the landline yesterday or today, and after ringing for a while it just stops. Maybe the listed hours should include any downtime to prevent this confusion and disappointment.

We only wished we’d booked two nights. Our stay at Goss Hall was perfect, and we’d strongly recommend it. We were upgraded to the beautifully furnished Sebastopol room, with a panoramic view over the garden. The house sits in lovely countryside beside a little stream and pond, and the charming hosts treated us with real kindness and care. Breakfast was excellent: a high quality cooked meal, plus a generous buffet, served in an elegant room with music playing and garden views. Our hosts also helped arrange a taxi for the evening and suggested places to visit when we got back.

We stayed one January night while touring, and it was a delight. Stacey gave us a warm, efficient welcome, and the cooked breakfast was excellent. The Georgian farmhouse has lovely interiors and pretty gardens. I’d strongly recommend it.

The river and wildfowl views made for a peaceful part of Kent, with good connections and plenty to do nearby. At Goss Hall for Christmas, cooking was easy thanks to the well-equipped kitchen and double oven. The main dining room was set for ten, and the lounge felt very traditional with its real log fire and Christmas tree. The bedrooms were a good size, and the bathroom had a luxury feel, with an outlook to Manorbourn.
