Thanington Hotel

The family room was a lovely suite, and the hotel itself was nice. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Andreash, who made a lovely breakfast and helped us find city car parking. It's about a 15 minute walk to the centre. The pool was small and a bit cold, but the dressing room had a great shower. The car park is a bit tight for larger cars ☺️

The location was great, with a lovely big play park across the road for children, and it's a relaxing 15 minute walk to the city centre. Staff were lovely, and we'll be back. Such a cute hotel. The indoor pool is open to all guests from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. Breakfast was a lovely buffet with a fry-up, fruit, and continental options. The rooms were quiet and relaxing, with a lovely bed. We also had a jacuzzi bath, which was a treat.

The staff, especially two of the gentlemen, were impressively dedicated and helpful, with a real passion for their work. The hotel has a distinguished feel and classic atmosphere, a refreshing pool, and an exceptional breakfast.

I regularly stay at Thanington Hotel when I visit my daughter at the University of Kent, so I expected the hotel to handle a simple guest confirmation responsibly. My booking said parking was free for guests and didn't need to be reserved, yet I still received a PCN. Staff repeatedly told me by phone they'd contact the parking company and help with getting it waived. Then, just one day before the payment deadline, an email said they couldn't help after all. That reversal left me stressed and unsupported, with the whole problem pushed back onto me at the last minute. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, or a similar one, after that experience. I've had much more responsible support when booking through Airbnb, so I'll choose that in future. If you stay here, be very cautious about parking and don't count on the hotel to help if there's a problem.
