The Old Alma Inn Ltd

Breakfast was delicious, with a full English as provided. The room had plenty of space and double quilted duvets, which made it easy to adjust the warmth while sleeping. I did have trouble adjusting the showerhead and temperature control, though the shower itself was a good temperature and looked stylish and modern. The staff treated me and my partner with real courtesy. I had a fantastic stay at the Alma inn, whether for a stopover or as a destination.

Avoid this place. The road just outside the window was noisy, the breakfast was very ordinary, and the hosts seemed unusually uninterested in guests' welfare. Other reviews mention recurring problems with showers not working and toilets not flushing. When we complained to the hosts, our room key then mysteriously vanished and he fraudulently charged us £70 for a replacement. Read the reviews, including the lies he posts in his defence. This was absolutely the worst place I've ever stayed in, and everything that could be wrong with a B&B seemed wrong here.

Breakfast was cooked to order with lots of choice, and they fully catered for my girlfriend's complicated dietary restrictions. The rooms were pleasant, with comfortable beds and en suite shower and toilet facilities. The location is handy, right by Chilham Station and a short walk from the charming village, though crossing the busy road was a minor issue. The landlord and landlady were warm and welcoming, and even upgraded our room for one of our nights because it was vacant. They also took a very late booking from a Dutch couple stranded by major ferry delays. We didn't hear that happen overnight, but met them at breakfast the next morning. It says a lot about the people running The Old Alma, who go out of their way to accommodate guests.

tony & sarah are laid-back hosts who do everything they can to make the stay enjoyable. tony even got our car fixed while we were at the b&b. They stayed up with us in the evening for board games and a few drinks, then we had a smashing 5* breakfast in the morning, all made with fresh produce. we'd definitely stay again.
