The location is excellent, about a 20-minute walk in a straight line to the cathedral. The duvets were warm and the water was hot, but the place was cold, and arriving to find the windows open didn't help. The self-catering kitchen is small, down in the basement with no Wi-Fi, and the electric cookers won't work unless the noisy extractor hood is on. There's quite a lot of stairs between the bedrooms and kitchen. Remember that kids need ID too. I later found out you can use a debit card on your phone.

Hilary checked me in and made me feel more welcome and appreciated as a customer than I can remember from any hostel I've stayed in while travelling. It's in a safe spot close to the city centre, and the rooms and amenities were very clean. The rooms are a decent size too. Good value for the price, and I'd recommend it and stay again.

It's on the edge of the city, around a brisk 20-minute walk from the centre. There are three ‘pods’ on site, plus secure storage for bikes in a shed. The beds were comfortable, the staff helpful, and the kitchen had excellent modern facilities. My rating takes into account that this is a hostel.

The place is really nicely kept, and I liked it overall. The staff were exceptional too. But the 5pm check-in time is a bit much, even after staying in lots and lots of hostels. UK hostels cost two or three times as much as mainland Europe, which grates, though that's the economy. Please put the old folk in a separate room. Between three of them with tiny bladders, I was woken around 20 times. Tiresome.
