The mattress needs replacing. I sleep on a futon at home and had camped for nine days beforehand, so I can sleep almost anywhere, but even I noticed how little spring it had. It would be awful for anyone with back issues. The hostel has a great location and the showers are fantastic. I felt really welcome on arrival, and they stored my bike securely so I could explore without worrying about it. Breakfast was included, which was a real plus.

The private room was comfortable, and the showers were nice and hot. Breakfast was included, just cereal and toast, which was totally fine. It's conveniently close to both the Hadrians wall trail and the city centre. The owners were friendly and helpful. A lovely little hostel.

Our host was lovely and gave us good advice about nearby restaurants. The hostel is right in the city centre but tucked away in a quiet corner. Everything was absolutely clean, from the bathrooms and kitchen to our bedroom. I'd come back anytime.

For my first night walking the wall, I booked a double room with an en suite all to myself, a bit of luxury before roughing it over the next couple of days. The room was clean and everything worked, and the owner was friendly. It's just off the main road, opposite Carlisle castle and near the train station, with only a short walk into the town centre. The trains were a little noisy, but it wasn't a problem at all.

Jono, the host and owner, carried my bags to my room and was friendly and accommodating. The place was immaculate top to bottom, including the showers, toilets and kitchen. It was excellent from start to finish, very friendly and homely. I'd highly recommend this hostel to anyone travelling to the area.
