We didn’t stay overnight, but had a couple of lovely, generous dinners that filled me right up. The beer was tasty, and the beer garden just behind the pub was really convenient for us with our bikes. I’d recommend it and go again.

Just stopped in for drinks. It’s a well-run little bar, and the landlady was friendly and very professional. It seemed popular with the locals.

We held our wedding welcome drinks at the King's in August 2025, a private event for around 40 people with food and drinks. The team even decorated the space and provided a wedding guest book, such a lovely touch. Our guests had a fantastic time, especially during the Karaoke, and it was a brilliant start to the wedding weekend. CJ and the team were great from beginning to end. The office staff communicated promptly and professionally, and gave us helpful answers about the event space, food and private hire. We met with CJ and the team to plan a custom food order, and what they served on the night was exactly what we’d hoped for. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

The Guinness was the only decent part of our meal. We spent well over £120, but the food and service were disappointing. We ordered drinks and sat down, only to be told they’d run out of pies and had just one portion of chicken left. My Ploughman's came with margarine instead of the advertised butter and no apple. The honey roast ham was just thin slices of packet ham, so it wasn’t the best Ploughman's I’ve had. My husband’s Hunters chicken was supposed to come with melted cheese, but had none, and his meal was also missing the baby carrots listed on the menu. We asked, but they arrived when he was nearly finished and were hard, as if they’d been microwaved in a hurry. It wasn’t busy, we were the only people there, yet neither the landlord nor the woman serving us wished us a good meal or checked how things were. We had to ask for sauces, and they tasted cheap and unbranded. There was no attention to detail. I wouldn’t return.

A proper family-run pub with a great atmosphere and great food. Give it a try, you’ll love it.
