Tamarack Lodge

There were eight of us, but the lodge still felt spacious. Matthew and his wife were friendly and helpful, always just a phone call away if we needed anything. The secluded wooden cabin was cosy and homely, a lovely peaceful escape from city life and all the hustle and bustle.

There are good walks nearby, and Taunton is about 20 minutes up the road if you fancy something more urban. Tamarack Lodge makes a great Somerset getaway, with enough room for a big family or a group of friends. Take a look at the website for the different accommodation options.

Dark skies are part of the appeal here. On a clear night, you might even spot the Milky Way. Pheasants and rabbits are often around, and you can listen out for owls at night. It's peaceful and tranquil, a good place to get back to nature and away from the bustle. Chard and Taunton are nearby, and the log burner adds to the cosy feel.

We'd been searching for years for somewhere we could take our two dogs on holiday, and this place is absolutely brilliant. We spent seven days here after my partner found it online. It's quiet and had everything we needed. We'd definitely recommend it, and I'm sure we'll come back every year.
