We got around easily on foot, with the gorge nearby and town not far away. The rooms were clean and tidy, and sharing a room between three of us was comfortable enough. Breakfast was continental and good quality, and the staff were friendly. Parking at the hostel was handy, though it could get tight when lots of guests were there. The entrance lane is narrow, but line up properly and you can get through without a problem. A good stay and good value.

We were a group of eight, and the staff were nice. The room was clean and tidy, and the hot water was very welcome after a full day hiking. We had dinner here both nights and really enjoyed breakfast, with a good range of English breakfast items, fruit, yoghurt, cornflakes and bakery items. The lounge had plenty of room for board games and relaxing together in the evening. It's very child friendly, and parking is right by the door.

The family en-suite room was really comfortable, especially with a double bed at the bottom of one bunk. The kids loved the extra sausages at breakfast, and the cooked breakfast was delicious. We found the staff thoughtful, friendly and flexible, and the place was good value for a family weekend. The self-catering kitchen was clean and well maintained, with all the utensils we needed. There were lots of board games and places to sit together in the evening, which made for some nice analogue family time. The Mendips walks are close by too. We missed the narrow lane on our first drive because the sat nav sent us to the next road along, but it was easy enough to find after that. There's a car park and a small enclosed back garden where the kids could safely let off steam. We'll be back.

We hired both buildings for five days and were able to cook comfortably for 22 people with the well-stocked kitchen. The location was great, close to shops and some lovely walks with beautiful views. I'd recommend walking around the reservoir and up to the top of the gorge. A great place to stay.
