Manor by The Lake

I photographed a wedding at Manor By The Lake from the morning preparations through to the first dance, and the day ran seamlessly. Guests could relax and enjoy themselves from arrival to the evening reception, thanks to the smooth organisation. Duncan and Georgia were professional, welcoming and experienced, and the whole staff team were attentive and supportive. The three-course meal I had was excellent, with great food, presentation and service. There’s a wonderful range of photo backdrops in the elegant interiors, architecture and grounds, all close to the celebrations. The manor and its surroundings look stunning and give the whole event an elegant feel. We had the best wedding experience of our lives at Manor by the Lake. A huge thank you to everyone there! 💕 The day itself went perfectly thanks to Duncan, who got in touch the week before and immediately put us at ease. He was kind, genuinely caring and handled every little challenge, going above and beyond for us. Siobhan also made choosing the venue easy at the showcase, answering all our questions and sharing really useful advice. Joanna from the planning team was meticulous, thoughtful and supportive, guiding us through every detail so it all felt seamless. Katie, Izzy, Olivia, Richard, Charlotte and Georgia were amazing on the day. Sam was brilliant behind the bar, and Joe from the Porter team was incredibly kind and helpful. The chef and his team made delicious food throughout, from the tasting to the wedding and breakfast the next morning. Everything exceeded what we expected. We truly recommend the venue, you’ll be in safe hands for your biggest day! 💒👰🤵‍♂✨️

We all really enjoyed the day at this beautiful venue. The food was fantastic and the staff were amazing. It’s easy to get to, yet feels tucked away and quiet.

The wedding morning started chaotically. An expensive breakfast was brought to the bridal cottage with nowhere to put it, and cereal arrived without bowls, so my daughter had to use a coffee cup. Then, while I was having my hair and makeup done, staff told me there was a problem with my playlist. They’d had it for weeks but left it until the last minute, which caused more music trouble during the ceremony and added a lot of stress. There were other upsetting moments while we got ready. A guest parked outside the cottage, making things awkward, and staff barged into a locked bathroom and startled my daughter. My corsage and the flower girl basket were missing, so I had to send the best man to look for them. Nobody came to collect me for the registrar meeting either, and I was late to the ceremony. As the day went on, my handcrafted archways collapsed and ruined my entrance. The cake was served late and had lost its freshness, the photo booth equipment was misplaced, and my late father’s jacket and family photos weren’t displayed as planned. By the end of the night I was devastated and wondering whether all our effort and planning had been worth it. The venue acknowledged its mistakes and offered a small refund, but the day fell far short of what we expected and left us with disappointing memories of what should have been magical.
