DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester

We had no disturbances during our weekday stay, and the room was comfortable with everything we needed. The hotel and garden were beautiful and clearly well cared for. Every staff member we spoke to across the hotel, restaurant and spa was warm and friendly. Nick and Abbey gave us our massages, and both were great. The restaurant host that evening, Tuesday the 25th, was brilliant, as was our server, though I didn’t get either of their names. The spa was lovely overall, but I wouldn’t book the mud rasul again. Nick explained the process clearly and the mud selection was nice, but the room seemed too small for it. We were warned that the vent at the bottom, where the steam comes out, gets very hot. However I couldn’t position myself to avoid it, and it was quite painful. Thanks for having us, we hope to return!

For our second stay, I went to celebrate my partner’s birthday and asked for some decorations. They decorated the room and even upgraded us to a suite. The staff were attentive and went above and beyond to check that everything was satisfactory. Emily, the reception supervisor, and Mark from guest services deserve a special thank you for helping me out. It’s a stunning hotel in a great location, and the spa was relaxing. I couldn’t fault it and highly recommend it.

I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t comment on the hotel, but the spa and restaurant were fantastic. I chose the BNS massage with scalp and arms included. Kate, the lovely and very professional therapist, made it a relaxing experience. The restaurant was lovely and service was prompt. A 5 star experience overall!

We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and paid a good chunk of money for a one night stay. The hotel looked lovely at first, and the staff seemed nice, but our night was ruined by extremely loud wedding after party music coming from the room directly below ours. Nobody told us about the wedding when we arrived. It’s shocking that rooms above the venue were occupied when the hotel didn’t control the volume, and it felt disrespectful to other guests. At 10:30, after we’d tried and failed to sleep, we went to reception and asked how long it would go on. The smug receptionist said, “Oh, it will be till 1 am, sir.” That response felt rude and disrespectful. We lost sleep and our anniversary was spoiled. We were moved to another room, but this could have been avoided if staff had warned us, or if they hadn’t put guests directly above a loud venue room. I think we should have been compensated. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
