Stone Villa

The Stone Villa breakfast was wonderful. It’s an easy walk into town, and there are nearby local shops with plenty of places to eat. Our room was clean, quiet and a good size, with a very comfortable bed, a nicely sized bathroom and a shower with good pressure. Staff were great and friendly.

After a hard day’s work, arriving at this beautiful hotel at 9pm was an amazing sight. The service was perfect, and the rooms really are exquisite. With its 1950s period setting, this is my pick of the year and my new number one hotel in the UK. Breakfast was filling and delicious, arranged perfectly on the plate and brought promptly and courteously. Big thanks to Ellie at the front desk when I arrived. She was friendly and very helpful, and gave me the perfect welcome to what I think is the best hotel experience you’ll find on these shores.

The bus stop at the end of the road makes getting around easy, and it’s a great place to stay in a good location. Breakfasts are excellent, and the staff are very friendly. Recommended.

Breakfast was outstanding, with plenty of it, and there’s a nice touch for tea and coffee drinkers: a bar fridge stocked with fresh milk. The hotel is well located, an easy walk of just 0.8 miles into the old town. The room was comfortable, though a little small as only a double room was available. A few issues stopped me rating it higher despite that excellent breakfast. The lighting was a bit dim, made worse by one of the three bulbs in the light having failed. We couldn’t adjust the heating because the radiator thermostat was missing. The receptionist had to switch off the heating for the entire hotel to stop our room getting too hot. That worked for us, but may not have been helpful for other rooms if they were a bit cool. They only change towels every three days, which is fine if there’s somewhere to hang them when wet. There were no hooks in the bathroom or bedroom for towels or a dressing gown. It’s an easy, inexpensive thing to fix, but a real oversight.
