The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing, so tasty. My daughter really enjoyed her gluten-free meal, and there was a good range of gluten-free options for people with allergies. We'll definitely go back when we're in Chester again.

The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an ideal spot near the Cathedral, and my second-floor room was very quiet. I booked a double room, which was worth the extra cost. It was spacious and simply furnished with wooden furniture. Booking directly with the hotel is best because breakfast is then free.

We popped in for a light lunch on Saturday and the service, staff and food were so fantastic that we returned for Sunday roast. Both meals were lovely, especially the delicious Sunday roasts and puddings. Rob, Ronnie, Abby & Vanessa were very hospitable, and Rob and Ronnie made us feel especially welcome and well looked after. Highly recommend this pub and restaurant.

My steak was passable, but my wife said the sea bass was the worst meal she'd ever had. It was dumped on top of the chips, looked like cardboard, and came with cold vegetables. We had booked a table for two and told them my wife was coeliac and needed gluten-free food. They said it would be no problem. When I raised the issue, they made excuses for the chef. They eventually took 25% off my wife's meal and gave us a free drink, which was good of them. I won't eat there again.

The hotel is right in the city centre beside the Christmas markets, and it was handy to leave our luggage there while we wandered around the ancient city. We had a fantastic stay. Even without the heating on, the room was warm and cosy, with a comfortable bed and plenty of space. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend it.
