The Inn On The Green

There were several vegan choices on the menu, and I had the Beetroot Wellington. It was the best dish anyone in our party ordered. The cask ales went very nicely with dinner, which exceeded expectations by a lot. We weren’t staying at the Inn, so I can’t comment on the accommodation, but don’t miss the restaurant when you’re in Ockley.

Breakfast was outstanding, and we both slept brilliantly. We wished we’d booked more than one night and would definitely return. Dinner in the conservatory was excellent too, with lovely food and drink and great service. We were thrilled with the clean bedroom and the quirky steps leading to the bathroom. The young woman behind the bar gave us a really warm welcome, showed us to our room and pointed out the fire exits on the way. There were loads of places to sit in the bar, and I even played my first ever game of bar billiards with my husband. The staff were warm and friendly. We booked a time for dinner, then made a breakfast booking before heading back to our room.

The breakfast was lovely, and we had a really nice night. Our room was pleasant and the bed was comfy. We liked the character of the old building, and the staff were lovely too, but the room could use a bit of TLC. The bathroom had carpet and the walls were thin.

The Inn On The Green was one of the highlights of our Europe trip from Australia. We spent four nights in a clean, cosy, beautiful room, and the staff were so friendly, always up for a chat or a laugh. The food and drinks were unreal, hearty, house-made and clearly crafted with care. It felt like a wonderful little break within our holiday. I’ll be recommending it to friends and family travelling this way.
