Works well for large family groups, though you have to go outside to reach the family rooms. There’s a hot tub outside those rooms. No hairdryers in the rooms.

It’s a lovely, child-friendly, homely property and a good place for larger groups. We were in room 3, I think, with a king-size bed just above the kitchen. The bed was uncomfortable, as though the mattress sagged or bent in the middle. The cover on the hot water tap also kept falling off. There’s only a regular TV, no smart TV.
Kim, the property owner, is such a fab lady. I felt at home straight away, and it turned out we had a kindred spirit in each other. Since I had to leave early, she went out of her way to put together an on-the-go breakfast for me. The place is clean, tidy, welcoming and really spacious, with plenty of parking. The quiet time is a great idea, and I had a peaceful, restful night and a lovely refreshing shower. I needed a last-minute room while judging at Ashover Show, and Whitton Lodge was an absolute diamond of a find. I won’t hesitate to stay again next time I’m in the area. Thanks Kim!! Xx
The house was clean and big enough for all 26 of us to spend time together. The hot tub and pool table were big hits. We had a great stay at Whitton Lodge and will likely come back!
Whitton Lodge suited our group of 19, including kids, in a lot of ways. The location worked well for people travelling from different areas, and we enjoyed the hot tub. There was plenty of room in the lounge, with lots of seating and a pool table, and the dining room fit our group, though it would be a squeeze with many more than 20. The kids liked the gaming snug. The kitchen layout made preparing meals and clearing up much harder than it needed to be. There are two kitchens in separate but adjoining rooms, and it feels like they’d work much better joined together and redesigned, since there’s plenty of space. Some bedrooms also got very cold overnight, even with the radiators turned up to max. Still, it ticks a lot of boxes for a large group. We’ll be back.
