Harbour Hotel Chichester

We had good service, nice facilities and tasty breakfast choices, and the rest of the stay was great. The problem was the bedrooms: the heating seemed to be kept on throughout the building, making ours uncomfortably hot and impossible to sleep in. This was during a couple of days around 18 degrees, so I can't imagine what it would be like in summer. The £10-a-day parking surcharge was unusual too, though that was the least of our worries.

Our room was lovely, super comfortable and quiet, and breakfast the next morning was excellent. We'd eaten in the restaurant before walking over to the Chichester Festival Theatre, then had drinks back at the bar after the show. A great overnight stay, thank you. I'd absolutely recommend the hotel.

The other hotel facilities were lovely, but I wouldn't stay again. Room 10 itself was nice, though quite a bit smaller than the same grade of room my family had. With an event on, the disco above it was extremely loud: there's no soundproofing between the floors, and the bass made the floor vibrate. We could clearly hear the music and DJ, so there was no chance to enjoy the room until it stopped. Not great for the price. Reception staff were sympathetic but couldn't help, and this seems to be a known problem.

The hotel was comfortable and beautiful, the staff went above and beyond, and the food was great. At night, though, outside street noise came through, and the single-pane windows didn't help. I guess the lesson is to ask for a room that doesn't face the high street. I'd stay again, but not in a street-facing room.
