Thelma was so considerate, first helping us move our dates when my dad needed emergency surgery, then remembering to ask how he was when we finally arrived. That kindness made an already lovely stay feel special. Hunston Mill is about a 10-minute drive from West Wittering Beach, and the dog garden gives them room to run off leash. Some units have their own enclosed gardens, and there’s no extra pet fee. Our place was spotless, with a fully equipped kitchen and dog bowls in several sizes. We were very happy here and will be back.
We had such a good weekend that we’re already planning to return. The girls loved playing in the gardens with the owners’ granddaughters, and the Mill was clean, roomy and had a great kitchen. We also had a brilliant time around Selsey, Chichester and West Wittering. A local farm with fruit and produce in a vending fridge had the best strawberries and ice cream or sorbet I’ve ever tried. We went back three times! Runcton farm shop and cafe was another highlight, especially the truffle brie, and the Crown & Anchor in Chichester harbour had lovely food and views. We only stayed a short while and wished we’d had longer. The place itself is magic. We were there last July and somehow forgot to leave a review. Five stars, easily.
The flat itself was lovely, but the dust was everywhere except the bathroom. We raised it with the owner, who agreed and said she’d talk to the cleaners and get a duster while we went shopping. When we got back, she’d polished the sitting room, but that was all. Such a nice little place, let down by domestic staff who didn’t do a proper job.
The dog area on site made it easy to take our two small dogs out whenever they needed, and kept them occupied. We only booked one night in the top floor of the mill, but would happily come back for longer. It’s surprisingly spacious for such an unusual old building, with a comfortable bed and excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities. A really delightful evening. Thanks to everyone at Hunston Mill! 🙂
The Garden cottage is roomy and set in a lovely spot, and it’s well placed for getting around. The kitchen sink was badly stained and could do with limescale removal. The fancy shower had the same issue, with limescale blocking the jets so the water didn’t flow properly. For a good meal, I recommend the spotted cow pub.
