We had a wedding to attend that day, and they let us check in early because the room was ready. The hotel is presented brilliantly, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our bedroom was clean and well furnished, but very warm with the heating blasting. I also found the lack of sockets by the bed inconvenient. The ones for charging a phone were on the floor at the other end of the room. Breakfast was great, and the poached eggs were the best I’ve had yet. Serving breakfast on a black plate, though, won’t be to everyone’s taste. Yuk!

We didn’t stay, but we had the loveliest Sunday lunch. The roast dinner was the best I’ve eaten out in a long while, and the roast potatoes were delicious. Everything was clean and the atmosphere was lovely. A special mention to Patrizio, who was welcoming, friendly and funny. Thank you all so much!

The restaurant staff, bar staff and hotel team were all friendly and polite, and the food was very nice with good sized portions. Our room was the letdown. It was hot even with the windows fully open, noisy from the kitchen and air conditioning units, and needed more lighting. We’d come back, but would ask for a different room.

The food was very nice at the champagne afternoon tea we had for Mother’s Day, but £70 for two people felt far too expensive for what we got. Service was slow, and the tea was just a basic Twining tea bag with no choice of teas. Compared with local tea rooms offering the same or more for much less, it definitely wasn’t worth the money.

The Sunday night package was very reasonable at £75, especially for the location. It included breakfast, late checkout and two courses for lunch or dinner. We ate well, with delicious food and first rate service. Room 110 was small but lovely, with a very comfortable bed and a bathroom with a bath. It could use a fresh coat of paint and a few finer touches for guests paying more. The interior is beautiful, and the hotel is right in the centre of town. Chipping Campden itself is simply beautiful, with plenty of tucked away, stunning tea rooms, restaurants, shops and pubs, plus easy access to lovely country walks.
