Cow Byre

It's a lovely, clean cottage around a 10 minute drive from chipping norton, and a good base for visiting beautiful places nearby. There's a small enclosed front garden, but Cow Byre sits between two other holiday lets, so both sides overlook the garden. The kitchen is fairly well stocked, and the hot tub was clean and warm. We appreciated the welcome bottle of prosecco, though there was no tea or coffee. The log burner comes with a small amount of wood. After I put in a little of the dry wood and opened the door to add more, the room filled with smoke and set off the fire alarm. The regular heating works well, but was loud overnight even after we'd turned ours off, so I suspect we could hear next door's. My main complaint is the dog policy. It's described as dog friendly, but the information says dogs can't go on the sofas or upstairs, and there are no dog beds. To me, a truly dog friendly place should let dogs go anywhere. Lots of lovely local places to visit, so it's a good getaway spot.
