Crown & Cushion Hotel

The bar staff were helpful, drinks were reasonably priced, and there were plenty of tables and toilet facilities. The bar food was okay and piping hot, though we didn’t try the restaurant. Staff were friendly and quick to bring an extra duvet when my wife asked for one. Our room stayed clean and tidy, with a TV and coffee making facilities. The ensuite was a bit dated, which I actually liked. We were there for three nights in October 2025. Parking behind the hotel off Albion Street was limited, and the pool wasn’t in use during our visit. We could hear road noise from the front of the hotel, but it didn’t bother us. The hotel is dog friendly and has free wifi.

Linda’s friendliness made the biggest difference for my wife and me. She made us feel like family, even though we were so far from home in Australia. She’s the managing owner, and very kindly upgraded our room for free to the best one in the place. It was so clean and fresh, with a lovely view. Dinner was absolutely amazing, and the breakfast selection was the best we’d had in our two weeks in England. The cottage pie tasted like our grandma’s back home, and we loved the sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble with hot custard. Hats off to the chef. Many thanks to Linda and all her friendly staff. We’ll return to Chippy Norton, England, just to stay with you and eat your food!

I’m really disappointed with our stay. The room clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly, with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and dirty black mould across the bathroom walls and ceiling. That’s completely unacceptable. The window safety straps had also been cut, which felt unsafe, especially for anyone travelling with children. Whenever we needed help, there was basically no one at the front desk. The whole place felt neglected and poorly managed, and I wouldn’t stay again until these problems are addressed. We contacted booking.com, where we booked, but the venue hasn’t responded. I don’t understand how booking.com can advertise this business.

Tushar and Sam made my stay easy and welcoming. They were quick to respond whenever I had a question or needed help, including arranging a room change and getting essentials sorted. Their local suggestions and travel advice also made it much easier to get around. Highly recommend staying here.
