The Lowfield Inn

The food was good and reasonably priced. We came just for a meal. You order your food and drinks at the bar, where there are menus as well as a chalkboard with daily specials. We were told to ask for a table at the bar instead of just sitting down. That could be made clearer for first-time visitors.

We only stopped on impulse for food, so I can’t comment on the accommodation. The service was amazing and the portions were sizeable. We were lucky to be the only diners, but I’d highly recommend stopping here if you’re passing by.

It's not the Raven. We booked a table for 6.30pm at 3pm, but were put by the door at a low coffee table, with a sofa on one side and a chair that was too high on the other. It made for a very uncomfortable meal. If there isn’t a proper table available, just say so instead of putting people somewhere that isn’t fit for eating.

The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our two nights in the Pig room on 26th and 27th May. The whole place had a lovely atmosphere, and there was a great team. Even the very busy cleaning staff were happy to stop for a little chat. We slept well in our large, clean, comfortable room. It was so quiet we didn’t hear anything from downstairs. The food was delicious, served quickly, and there was plenty of choice, including smaller meals if you wanted one. Good value, too. Breakfast was perfectly cooked, and the chef was friendly, accommodating, and had a great sense of humour. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again if we were in the area.
