The views and the dogs were a real treat, and the hosts made the stay. Robin and Louella kept checking whether we needed anything, and we could have spent days chatting with them. My husband especially loved hearing Robin's stories. They're remarkable people, and we'd rate the Old Deer House 10/10.

The best part of my four days at Robin and Louella's was the time with them and their lovely family. I arrived as a solo traveler taking Cornwall slowly, and they sat down with me on their beautiful veranda for tea and cake straight away. They took time to get to know me, and I really enjoyed learning about them too. Louella chatted with me often and gave me a wonderful walk around their property, Cabilla Manor, and Cabilla Cornwall, the admirable project their son Merlin is building to bring the healing power of nature to people who need it. You can feel how closely it's tied to the family's love of the land across generations. Robin also spread out detailed maps and helped me plan driving and walking routes to explore Bodmin Moor, the tors, stone circles and nearby towns and moors. The three attention-seeking Westies, sheep calling in the fields, grazing horses, swallows swooping over the pond in the evening, and linens drying on the line all added to the personal country feel. The house and rooms were tastefully decorated, comfortable and clean, and the food was perfect, especially the best scrambled eggs on Earth. By the time I left, I felt completely restored and was already wondering how I'd get back to the Old Deer House someday. If you appreciate peace, nature and kind people, this is a magnificent BnB and much more.

The beautiful setting made for a wonderful stay, and Robin and Louella were superb hosts. It felt like a home from home, with lovely conversations with them and the other guests. Strongly recommended. Thank you, Andrew & Sarah

A beautiful setting and generous hosts made our stay at the Old Deer House even better. We had a fantastic time and couldn't have asked for more. We'll definitely come back.
