Seafront 2-bed Apt, Sleeps 4 in Clacton-on-sea

I stayed from Wednesday to Sunday, and the apartment was clean, tidy, spacious, and had everything I needed. There was a large bathroom, a big ensuite shower room, doors opening onto the grass, and a small side door to the car. It's only a two-minute walk to the beach, and the place was really well kept. The host, mark, was easy to contact and communicated well. The fridge freezer failed on my first day, so all the fresh food I'd bought for the week had gone bad by morning. I lost about £50 worth, but mark sent Anoop, a lovely and polite guy, to check it, then arranged a technician. The original couldn't be repaired, and a replacement was installed within 24 hours of my calling. That's quality service, and I couldn't have asked for better. I would definitely come back if mark is still in charge next time. My small gripes were that the bath plug was very hard to release even once I knew how it worked, the sofa wasn't very comfortable, and the arrival instructions were a little complicated. Simplifying those would make it perfect. Thanks again, mark. I'll be back.

We were greeted warmly, and there was a welcome pack waiting in the apartment. It was spotlessly clean, with a high-spec decor and plenty of bedroom storage, including lots of drawers. The kitchen had everything we could need. The beach and some very good restaurants are close by, and shops aren't far either. A good base for sightseeing, with places to visit not too far away.

The property was damp and mouldy, and this was the worst holiday experience I've had. People in the flat below were smoking weed. When I raised it with staff, they said they'd pass it to management on Monday, which would have spoiled the rest of our weekend. After I left a low-scoring review, the host accused me of posting it for revenge and then offered me money to take it down. I initially said yes, but then felt it wasn't right. How many other people have they bribed? Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

The accommodation was bright, clean, and had all the amenities. It's in a good spot, just minutes from the beach and shops.
