We left after an hour. The place looked very different from the online pictures, smelled stale, and we could barely get through the front door before the owner was demanding money. We weren’t shown the room first. There was no toilet in the room, just one in the corridor for all the guests to share. The shower was in the bedroom corner, close to the beds, so there was no privacy. The decor was old and dated, and the bed quilts were grubby. There was no parking except a paid car park around the corner. We paid £70 a night, which is disgraceful; they should be paying guests that to stay there. The woman took the payment in a grubby kitchen because there was no reception desk. It was by far the worst guest house I’ve ever been in, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We had a great time chatting with the staff, who were really helpful with tips on places to see in Cleethorpes. The breakfast was lovely, too. Our room was cozy, clean and a perfect fit, with local amenities close by and the beach only five minutes away. Excellent price!

We were a bit confused when we arrived at MJs Guest house and were told we’d actually be staying here, but it wasn’t a problem in the end. It’s a lovely, clean, friendly guest house and well worth the money. Paying extra for breakfast was worth it, as it set us up for the day. The beach, bars and shops are all very close. I’d book here again if I visit the area.

The owner was very nice and accommodating, but the place needs some attention. The room was noisy because of the road, and the shower was minuscule. It’s okay for a night or two.

We stayed on New Year’s Eve and the room was absolutely disgusting. The bedding was dirty, the sink was blocked, the shower was tiny, and it was freezing cold. The duvet cover stank. Everywhere else was fully booked, so we had no choice but to stay. Now we’re covered in bed bug bites. Happy New Year to the Priory. It should be closed down. Don’t ever book this place.
