Sherwood Forest - Forest Holidays

Our dogs loved roaming the woodland trails, and we had some good movie nights with the premium Wi-Fi we paid for. Having room for two cars right by the lodge was handy, and the little on-site shop rescued me when I forgot the teabags. We’d come back for another Monday-to-Friday break at Forest Holidays Sherwood Forest. The staff were welcoming, and even though we arrived late, getting in was easy. Everything was clean and cosy; there was the odd bit of dust, which can happen in a lodge in the woods. The firewood we’d prepaid for was waiting for us. The potholes on the lodge roads are worth watching, but slow driving made them manageable. Just what we needed to switch off and relax, and I’d recommend it.

The evening quiz was good fun, even though we didn’t win either time. The reception staff were friendly, and the hot tub was lovely and set in a very private spot. It’s a peaceful place, with lots of lovely birds and squirrels around, and you might even get lucky enough to see reindeer. I’d definitely recommend it for a quiet, relaxing break.

The Sherwood Forest team made my partner’s 40th birthday a stay to remember. At Golden Oak 80, the staff were so helpful, and they sorted out any little problems quickly and to a high standard. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone for making the visit special, and for being so accommodating throughout. Thank you!

The roads through the park need some attention. Weather damage has left rough patches that could catch a low-profile car, so that’s why I’ve given four stars. A bit more hard-core in places would help. Apart from that, it’s a lovely little getaway and I’ll book again. The staff are friendly and attentive, the on-site food is good, and there’s a pub just down the road too. There are activities if you want them, and premium Wi-Fi if you need to work. Nottingham and Mansfield aren’t far away. Great for a break to destress and get away from everything.
