The cottage felt like a proper cottage, wrapping us in comfort and helping us totally relax. We spent New Year there for a week, me and my two daughters with their partners. There was no rain, and we were right among lovely walks. The dogs enjoyed themselves and were safe in the fenced garden. The owners have a friendly collie who loves you to throw sticks for him. We’re going to book this cottage again, which says it all for us. It’s a well equipped, well maintained place in a quiet part of the north-west Lake District, with beautiful scenery and walks nearby, including Whinlatter Forest and Buttermere. The cottage sleeps six, though the smallest of the three bedrooms is probably better for children. Dogs are welcome, and ours certainly seemed to enjoy himself. It’s on a working farm, where we were lucky enough to meet a calf that was just 10 minutes old. There are also fishing rights at the lake on site.

Just got back from a week at Scales holiday cottage. It’s the perfect place to switch off from work. The kids loved it, and so did the dogs. Great location for a relaxing stay.

The dogs loved it, and it was clean and plenty warm enough for us. Enjoyable stay, though that hallway door was annoying.

We had a great week here. It’s a big cottage with lots of parking, good internet, and a great location. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone with dogs.
