After about 45 minutes, the mould smell in our first room was still strong. We opened the windows when we arrived and waited before complaining, then found wet, rotting carpet under the bedside table. The door wouldn't shut without a full-body slam, making a lot of noise whenever we came or went. The sheets looked filthy, as if they hadn't been washed in months. The walls and fridge were dirty, and the TV barely worked, showing only radio stations and looking close to giving up. We reported it all downstairs and were offered another room. It was a little better, but still not clean or suitable for the night. I told staff I needed to speak to my sister, and we quickly decided to leave. When we brought our things down, they refused a refund because we'd supposedly stayed longer than 30 minutes. We weren't even there for two hours. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It was filthy and mouldy, the door felt unsafe, and the staff were rude and seemed not to care. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere else.

The key card and room lock were glitchy, taking three or four tries to open the door. My shower drain was blocked, and there were bloodstains on the sheet. I only discovered these things in the morning, so when I mentioned them at checkout, I couldn't have raised them earlier. The manager said I should have reported them sooner and she would have sorted it out, but there wasn't even an apology or offer of compensation or a discount. The place is very overpriced for what you get, with poor, unprofessional service. The owners barely speak English, which makes simple requests an ordeal. Avoid if you can. There are better options in the same price range. They need properly trained hotel staff and higher standards. It feels like they're getting by with the bare minimum.

The room looked recently updated, and the location and value were both very good. It's a decent enough hotel. Just remember reception closes at 10, so let them know if you'll be checking in late.

The staff are friendly and willing to help, and the rooms are very clean. It's near the city centre, with a bus stop for the university right outside. I've stayed at other hotels in the centre, but this one is cheaper and better. If you're visiting from abroad for a short or long stay, I'd recommend it as your first choice.
