ibis Coleraine Riverside

The rooms were large, tidy, clean and really quiet, with air conditioning. There’s good parking, and the location is handy for amenities like bowling, the cinema and soft play, all just a few minutes’ walk away. Breakfast was freshly cooked and fab. It was brilliant that dogs are welcome, and there’s a grassy area around the side of the hotel.

The staff were friendly, and the rooms spotless. It’s close to lots of shops and restaurants. The hotel’s own bar and restaurant seemed popular, though we didn’t try them. Checkers nearby does the best fish and chips. Giants Causeway is only 30 minutes away.

The room was modern, had everything we needed and was excellent for the price. The location was great too, near plenty of shops and forest walks, and we had a good stay and sleep. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, but service at the attached restaurant was less good. Breakfast was badly overcooked and greasy. My partner barely ate hers, and our child only managed a little. When I mentioned it while paying, the restaurant staff member just laughed and handed over the bill. Not great. We won't book breakfast or eat there again if we stay, and after that experience I'd be wary of the restaurant, even though it might be better in the evening. I'd recommend avoiding breakfast.

The area was nice, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. We stayed for 8-9 days, though, and a few things bothered us: there was no fridge or iron included, despite paying a good amount to stay there. There was also a strong cigarette smell whenever we came back to our room from outside. We couldn't tell where it was coming from.
