The beds were soft, the neighborhood quiet, and we got plenty of rest. Our large room seemed made for many more guests, and it had thoughtful touches we hadn’t seen before, including a towel drying rack and hot tea. The owners made us feel welcome as soon as we met them, despite our late arrival in the dark and our first impression that the place looked a bit foreboding. We were the only family staying in the whole house during the November 2019 off-season. They also kindly provided continental breakfast so we could get on with our whirlwind tour of England. It’s a manor house in a quiet neighborhood, with a sense of history, and the village is quaint, just like the English countryside I’d imagined. Getting there was tricky: even after calling ahead for directions from Heathrow, I took the narrow, winding road they’d specifically warned me against. Still, once you arrive, it’s worth it. Highly recommended.

The house is warm enough and has equipment for big parties. I’ve only given it three stars because of the awful weed smell from someone living on the top floor. Our whole party was unhappy with it.

After a lovely evening sightseeing in Bath, we came back, made supper in the communal kitchen, and slept so well in the super comfortable beds. Sue and Mark were friendly and welcoming. It’s a great country venue, about 15 minutes outside Bath.

We really enjoyed our stay for a family wedding last week (22nd). The house has lovely character, enormous rooms, and beautiful grounds, and it’s in a beautiful little village. The owners were really nice, as was everyone we met in the village.

Mark and Sue were extremely helpful and friendly, going out of their way to make us feel welcome. The en suite double rooms were clean and nicely decorated with modern furniture. Breakfast was delicious, with a large variety to choose from. Trimnels house has a homely feel inside, like a traditional country guest house, and the exterior and big garden are lovely. The garden also has beautiful chickens, and the house is set in beautiful scenery.
