The couple who manage this community-owned pub are friendly and chatty, and the staff who looked after us were down to earth, welcoming and always smiling. It has a village-pub feel, with regulars who know everyone, so it’s a good spot if you enjoy being noticed. There’s live music most Saturdays, sometimes acoustic or quieter for the size of the venue, and the acts are decent either way. The changing menu has interesting specials and daily lunch offers, so there are plenty of reasons to pop in. I’ve been twice with my daughter. Both times she ordered the gammon, a huge horseshoe-shaped serving that she needed help to finish. I had the linguine with oxtail ragù on one visit. The sauce was full of flavour, though I wished there’d been more pasta, dough balls or crusty bread to mop it up. On the other visit I had the standard cheeseburger. It seemed smaller in diameter, though I do like my burgers thin and wide when they’re stacked. The burger sauce was a highlight, it reminded me of a few I’ve tried in America, and I’d have it again. Will definitely be back.

The pub has a great story behind it, and it’s well worth a visit. We popped in for a drink on New Years Day, then decided to stay for dinner. Lovely place, really friendly staff and excellent food.

The pub has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, and the food is delicious. We slept really well because the modern, comfortable rooms are separate from the pub building, so it’s very quiet. We had a lovely stay at the Trawden Arms, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We usually enjoy our visits, and the food here is generally very good, which is why I’ve given five stars. But this Sunday was disappointing. We ordered roast lunches at half three, one pork and one beef, and only found out there was no beef after ordering, so we both had pork. The plates were nicely presented, but there was no apple sauce when I asked, only horseradish. That would have been fine with beef, but without the right sauce it spoiled the dish a bit. We were also served a cloudy real ale. Just sharing feedback, as we do normally enjoy coming here.

Cosy, comfortable rooms and excellent food at this community-owned pub.
