We had Sunday lunch here while staying in Coniston, and the staff made us feel welcome from the start. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. For £22, the meal was delicious and there was plenty of it. The pork loin was especially good, moist and generous, and the vegetables were far better than the usual pub veg. We had creamy mash, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese with crispy onions, parsnip, mashed carrot and swede, Brussels sprouts, peas and cabbage. Definitely recommended.

We went back yesterday because the first visit was so good. I had the same meal again, and the fish was delicious both times. The chips were a bit hard yesterday, but that wouldn't put me off going back. My husband found the beer amazing, with a good choice, after I’d looked for a real ale pub for him. The meal was delicious, the staff are really friendly, and the pub is lovely and cosy with a log fire. Highly recommend.

The ales are really nice, and with its own brewery this is a great place for a few local pints. I wouldn't choose it for the food, though. My beef burger was very basic and overpriced at £19.50, dry and overcooked, with no flavour. The bun was described as brioche but wasn't. Sorry to leave such a bad food review, but it was too basic for the price.

The staff went above and beyond, from bringing dog treats for Zeus to surprising me with a lemon slice for my birthday. Paul the landlord even gave me a birthday drink, which I really appreciated. The people here should be proud of this pub. I first came to the Black Bull while walking the Cumbria Way with my dog, and the atmosphere was so nice that my girlfriend booked us back as a couple for my birthday. The room was perfect, the food was great, and the beer is the best I've tasted. I've been to plenty of pubs that claim to be good, but the Black Bull is one of the very best. Highly recommend.

We had the breakfast, lunch and dinner, and all the food was really, really good and great value. The home-brewed ales are well worth trying too, especially after a long hike in the beautiful surroundings. We stayed in one of The Bull Inn's cottages in Coniston with our two dogs. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very dog friendly, which mattered a lot since it was our one-year-old puppy's first trip away. We'll definitely recommend the place and are already planning another visit soon. Thanks again to Ian, Lottie, Dee and all the team at The Bull Inn. The Kings 👑
