This is a review of the rooms, not the cafe. My Partner and I stayed one night, on 29 JAN, in the Estuary Room. The suite was gorgeous and spotlessly clean, with lovely decor, a great bed, TV and tea and coffee. Best part was the big bathroom, reached through the room, with a walk-through shower and waterfall head. For the price, it was a stunning place to spend a night while visiting the area. Breakfast was at the bistro next door rather than the cafe below. We had a full english and the staff were nice. Highly recommended.

The Welsh rarebit was a real stand-out, and the food was superb. Such a lovely café, with really friendly staff who are happy to welcome dogs.

First time here. We popped in for a sandwich and a cuppa, but there was a bit of a wait for the food. They explained why, so we just had our drinks. The waitress brought over three mini mince pies as an apology, though she didn't need to. Friendly, clean little cafe, reasonably priced and dog friendly, which was a bonus. Our little furbaby got water and a couple of treats. We'll definitely call in again in the New Year.

We caught the tearoom at a busy lunch hour, but after only a short wait they cleared and cleaned a table for us in the back room. There was a steady one-in, one-out flow, which says a lot about how popular it is. The team were rushed off their feet but still friendly, and never made us feel hurried. The menu has something for everyone, plus a sandwich special each day, and prices are very reasonable. Our portions were generous. Ordering took a little while, then the drinks arrived promptly and the food followed soon after. Everything tasted fresh, hot where it should be, and homemade. I loved the afternoon tea for one, though it was more than enough: sandwiches on lovely thick sliced bread, a good-sized scone, two slices of bara birth and a slice of lemon drizzle. There was a choice of cake. We cleared our plates.

My wife had the tuna jacket potato, and I went for leek and potato soup with a brie and cranberry toastie. It was all really nice, arrived quickly, and the portions were huge and filling. We followed that with a cream tea and cherry scone, which came quickly too. There was so much tea, about five cups, and that was lovely as well. The place was obviously very busy, but the staff stayed polite and friendly and did well under the circumstances. It's dog friendly, and the food is homely. Seems like the only place in the UK still doing soup and a sandwich! I'm not sure why the bad reviews. Maybe some people don't have taste buds, or were turned away because it was full. Some tourists pushing in seemed to have no idea what a busy tea room is like. I'd highly recommend it.
