The Oldtown Inn

The apartment was boiling hot when we arrived, but spotlessly clean, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We’d planned to go into town, but ended up at The Old Inn bar instead, having an amazing time with the staff who own the apartments. I’d give everything about this place five stars. Definitely coming back to the apartment and bar soon.

We booked four rooms expecting them to be together. Two were, one was round the corner outside, and the last was across the road. The stairway up to the two rooms wasn’t clean, which made a poor first impression. It could use a sweep and mop. My room was big and came with bread, milk, orange juice for the next day, a kettle, toaster, microwave, utensils, and a TV with basic channels. But it wasn’t very clean: the shower door was hanging off, the seal was black and mouldy, the bathroom smelled strongly of stale smoke, and the blinds were yellow instead of white. I checked a friend’s room and theirs, and the other rooms, were fine. Maybe we just got a bad one. My friends would stay again, but I probably wouldn’t. It’s very central and handy for a night out, so you’ll have to try it yourself.

I stayed one night and brought my dog. I was very happy with the experience. They’d left cereal, milk, butter, bread, coffee, and shampoo, which was a lovely touch.

We stayed four nights in July, and this place was an overpriced ripoff. The service was poor, there was no cleaning, it was noisy above the pub, and there was no insulation from the adjoining unit. No Wi-Fi, cheap fittings, terrible beds, a shower door hanging off, a loose toilet seat, and hardly any toilet paper on arrival. It wasn’t at all as the internet description represented it in terms of quality. Free parking wasn’t really free, and you have to go to the public bar to discuss problems. All round, somewhere to avoid at all costs. We travelled through Wales and Ireland for five weeks, and this was by far the worst place. I’m only getting started. Dave
